Maple Apple Pork Chops

September 15, 2019 by Haggen Northwest Fresh Leave a Comment

Comfort food season is upon us and there’s nothing cozier than a skillet full of pork chops blanketed with caramelized apples and onions. If Fall were coming over for dinner, this is what you’d make.

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 2 cups Golden Delicious or Gravenstein apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 boneless pork chops
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp mustard
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider
  • 2 Tbsp white wine
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Preheat a rimmed baking sheet in oven. Arrange apples in a single layer on sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until apples are browned. Set aside.
  3. Heat oil in large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until caramelized; about 10 minutes. Remove onions from skillet and set aside.
  4. Sprinkle salt and pepper over pork and add to pan; cook for 3 minutes on each side. Remove pork from pan.
  5. Add remaining ingredients to pan, stirring with a whisk. Cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place pork chops back into pan. Add apples, onions and spoon sauce over pork chops, turning to coat. Garnish with thyme.
