Cinnamon Swirl French Toast

Vamp up traditional French toast by using our scratch-made Cinnamon Swirl Bread made with the best ingredients by our expert bakers. Each slice has a swirl of spicy-sweet Indonesian Korintje cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar in our handcrafted dough.


Cinnamon Swirl French Toast

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup half & half
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 slices Haggen Cinnamon Swirl Bread
  • 2 Tbsp butter, divided
  • Sprinkle of powdered sugar
  • Caramelized apple slices (see recipe)
  • Nuts and berries for topping
  • A drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions
  1. Whisk together eggs, half & half, orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in mixing bowl. Arrange Cinnamon Swirl Bread in a single layer in a shallow dish and pour egg mixture over the bread. Let stand 2 minutes then turn over.
  2. Heat large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 Tbsp butter and let melt. Place the bread in the pan one or two slices at a time depending on pan size. Cook approximately 2 minutes per side until browned. Transfer to serving platter. Repeat with remaining bread and butter. Sift powdered sugar over top and serve with caramelized apple slices, berries, sliced almonds and syrup.

Caramelized Apples

  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • Pinch of salt

In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add a pinch of salt. Add apple slices and cook for 5-8 minutes per side until browned and caramelized. Transfer to plate until ready to use.
